Narrated in a voice reminiscent of The Book Thief, this fast-paced adventure is perfect for fans of fantasy such as The Girl Who Drank the Moon and A Wish in the Dark.

My Review

A captivating story about loss, grief, and friendship that you won’t be able to put down. The author has such a poetic way with words, I loved how death was explained as setting sail to the sea in the sky. The story was told through the Wolf’s POV which just added that extra key element to hooking the reader with a snarky commentary that just had me smiling!

Gauge has always been able to see the wolf – which the town believes you to be cursed if this happens. So the town turns their back on Gauge during his loss. He teams up with an orphan who doesn’t judge him and they try to prove his innocence. Will they succeed or is Gauge truly cursed?

Although geared towards Middle Grade readers, I think young and old alike will fall in love. As a debut book, Jessica Vitalis knocked it out of the park! I can’t wait to read more from her.
