Set in Kenya, Oi is a naughty kitten who lives with his Mummy and siblings in an outdoor shed. Despite Mummy’s warnings, Oi has a tendency of wandering off and exploring. But one day, after nearly being attacked by a dog, Oi ends up in an unfamiliar neighborhood. And this time, he’s not sure he’ll be able to find his way back home…
Oi’s adventure is sure to delight children and cat-lovers alike.
My Review
A culturally rich illustrated chapter book that all ages will enjoy. Oi is such a relatable character – curious and full of mischief like so many children can be, sure to capture the hearts of each reader. I love how the setting was in Kenya. Once you add in the illustrations you get a real inside look into how they live. It never ceases to amaze me at what I learn from kid lit. I am grateful my son gets to experience it at a young age. Lorna did an amazing job at creating an adventure with a huge underlying message – when mom warns you it’s for your own benefit and safety, not because she’s trying to take your fun away. I highly recommend everyone, regardless of age, to check this book out!
