My Review

Rating: 5 out of 5.

An absolutely wonderful book about how YOU can make a difference. This book shows that no matter what race, size, sex, etc. we are all the same and should be treated with kindness. The book is told through flawless rhymes. The book just really makes sense and every child out there needs to read and apply what they learn from this book. The illustrations are great and show the wide variations of people out there. Great book, check it out!

About The Author

A Child Called You was inspired by an arts & crafts project Wise’s four children were working on, and its illustrations were based on actual drawings the children submitted to Novel.“The kids are homeschooled, and for an art class one day, we just decided to put something together and got some ideas together, and from there it just bloomed into a book,” said Wise.

A Child Called You makes use of simplistic language, with sparse and rhyming text — enabling even the youngest of readers to comprehend its universal message of kindness. Wise hopes the book will help children see that accepting, respecting, and appreciating the uniqueness of others can go a long way in making the world a better place.“It’s a book for everybody, of all ages,” said Wise. “It’s a message of kindness for everyone. We have no stereotypes involved. I think the problem in the world today is that we stereotype everything, and we judge things before we even know what they’re about. So, our book kind of eliminates all the stereotypes.”

Wise is a West Virginia-born author who believes that it only takes one person to change the world. He currently lives in a small town in upstate New York. He is happily married to the love of his life. Together they have four wonderful children. (especially wonderful when they are not fighting). These children are the inspiration for the book.
