My Review

🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

What an amazing and riveting debut!!  When I read the synopsis, I knew I had to read this.  In this near future, the population is dwindling.  The government creates Mandate Thirteen – any girl 13 years of age that is fertile is taken to a special school, or rather a baby making farm.  Michael is Hope's father, and Hope has just turned 13.  After Hope's mother gets her tested for fertility, she lies to Michael about the results, saying the testing equipment wasn't working.  When the baby farm workers come to collect Hope, Michael decides to protect his daughter from this fate at all costs.

A page turning ride that I won't soon forget. The story was fast paced and I could not put it down.  The writing style flowed beautifully.  Characters were well drawn out.  There were quite a few different "bounty hunters" chasing after them, which got a bit confusing – they all worked for different companies, etc.  I could see the similarities between our government and this book.  How a gross violation of human rights can cause a rebellion.  Great book!

Dowling had gained a fan and I'll definitely be checking out his next books!
