And when Avi stumbles across the truth, her relationship with Belle is put to the test. If Avi reveals what she knows, their sisterhood might never recover. But if she doesn’t, she might lose Belle forever.

Debut author Brianna Peppins deftly balances a celebration of sisterhood, self-discovery, and Black joy with an empathetic exploration of teen dating violence in this novel that is, at its heart, a love letter to Black girls.

 

My Review

🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Avi is a character that will not be forgotten. Then you have Belle, who pretty much is the poster child for every domestic abuse victim out there. Avi just wants to help her sister, but Belle is in denial. While this story talks about domestic violence the sisterly love and protection are the real stars of the book. You can just feel Avi's love for Belle shining through each page. The character depth and growth throughout the book was phenomenal. I think Logan pretty much wraps up the MO for abusers everywhere. As a victim and best friend of a DV victim I've been on both sides. This book was written brilliantly and I believe that it's one of the most impactful stories I've read in quite a while.
