Worlds of Magic and Power
Forbidden Love
And DEATH. DEATH is the consequence…
When Tristan defies Ambion’s only law—royal and common blood cannot mix, he discovers the consequences are real. The young guardian finds himself in a world where love and hate, war and peace, duty and betrayal blur into darkness. As his world devolves into a battle for survival, he learns only an Angel can save Ambion from the destruction wielded by the Dividers. Is Tristan the Angel destined to save the world or will he succumb to the wiles of a dark goddess?
“Boy! Hey boy, let me show you the end.” Tristan looked in horror as tens of thousands of men and women were hooded figures. Explosions erupted everywhere, and the black sky spewed red lightning all around the warriors. A ground shaking roar forced Tristan to cover his ears. When he looked up, a massive golden dragon breathed fire upon the world:
fire engulfed the horizon. “The end will begin with ash.”
My Review
🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Dragons, Elves, Princesses… Oh My! This is my kind of a book. Plenty of fantasy elements, intricate magic systems and dragon riders. We follow the story through Tristan's POV. Tristan is a half-elf training to become Princess Rayna's guardian. Morgan is Rayna's sister who develops feelings for Tristan as well. Can they figure out a way to come together to save the world?
The attention to detail is beyond amazing. I loved reading about the terpsichore:
"Their two sets of wings had long tubes of bone supporting the webbing. No terpsichore tube structure was ever the same. When they flapped their wings or in any kind of wind, their tubes played a “song.” Each had its unique song. When the creatures opened their mouths, a sound like a whale came out, but it was softer and more majestic. The males had green scales and silver manes, while the females had blue scales and black manes. They called out to each other with their wings fully extended."
It's like things like this that draw me into the world and don't let go. This is Snyder's debut book and it's a great start. I do believe his writing will grow the more he does it. However, I'm looking forward to book two, I want to keep following these characters.
Huge thanks to iRead Book Tours & Tyler R. Snyder for my gifted copy.
Q&A With Tyler
1.What genre do you write and why?
I write fantasy for the most part. I really enjoy the freedom that the genre offers. If I have any restrictions there aren’t many. The ability to create and build as I see fit was the most appealing to me. Plus I get to write about dragons.
2.What character was the most difficult to write?
The hardest character for me was Rayna. She was the most problematic because I had to capture a sweetness with a twist of a mischief in her. And while keeping this sweetness on the surface, have a darkness looming below, trying to break out here and there. Rayna had to go through several iterations before I was able to get her right.
3.What advice would you give to budding writers?
I mean the piece of advice I can give, new writers have probably heard a thousand times. Well you need to hear it a thousand more. Don’t give up. Keep writing. Keep building on your craft. I spent the last ten or so years working and grinding. Being told no. Do it again. As much as it broke me and wore me down, I realized after a while, I was becoming better by it. Even on the brink of quitting I realized I was a different writer at the end of it. Don’t give up.
4.Where do you write?
I have an office in my house. I prefer some form of solitude when I write. That and I blast music really really loud when I write. But if I can get away for a week or weekend, I have spot up in Estes Park Colorado. That place is kind of like my fortress of solitude. Each weekend I go up there, I shut off my phone and I get to work. Some weekends I can crack out fifty pages if I can get into that rhythm.
5.Do you have any hobbies? Any quirky things you like to do?
I’m a gamer. I love video games, board games. My favorite game is magic the gathering. I love getting together with my friends and game. We usually get together every Wednesday to play Magic. I’m also a bit of a foodie. I love trying new food. Or eating at new or fancy restaurants. Gordon Ramsey is my culinary hero.

Tyler Snyder was born in 1984 in Medford, Oregon.
As a child, he was captivated by movies, video games, and Dungeons and Dragons, along with the worlds these activities created. The original spark that ignited Tyler’s imagination was when he wanted to see a movie similar to The Legend of Zelda, but the closest film at the time was The Dark Crystal. That itch, to this day, has still not been scratched. This led him to books and stories like the pastimes he adored and gave him exposure to a much grander well of ideas and possibilities. Meeting like-minded friends who shared the same hobbies, Tyler developed a passion for creating new worlds. In Romancing the Darkness, Tyler explores his world, Ambion, and the countless decisions confronting his characters.
Mr. Snyder currently lives in Wyoming with his wife, Sandra.
