Madeline doesn’t think she will ever be happy as a pink mermaid living in a black and white ocean. One day she meets some friends who help her appreciate her own special identity. This gives her the confidence to proudly proclaim, “I add color to the world, you see. I am happy being uniquely me.”

My Review

Rating: 5 out of 5.

A fantastic book about accepting yourself and your differences! We follow Madeline, a pink mermaid in a world with no color. The other mermaids pick on her for being pink. She wishes she could be like everyone else. Until one day she meets a Red crab. The red crab explains why being the only one with color can brighten the world – and proceeds to introduce her to other sea life that’s full of color. Each new colorful creature are meets is extremely happy to be unique. A great message that all children need to hear. Learn to embrace your differences because that’s what makes you special, what makes you – You! Beautifully Illustrated – the pops of color really stand out and bring the pictures to life!
