My Review

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

A beautiful rendition of The Secret Garden. This year has been an eye opener for me as far as graphic novels go – they are phenomenal! This is a modern day retelling where the secret garden is actually located in NYC. It masterfully touches on subjects such as grieving, anxiety and growing. I also love the uncle who is technology free in his household. Most people wouldn’t know what to do about the internet. Also woven in was the renovation of something that was once abandoned. In today’s society so many places get forgotten and I love the idea of restoring it to it’s former beauty or something totally new.

A fun and quick read. I finished the entire book in about an hour – I couldn’t put it down. I loved the modern take on the story making it completely relatable. The illustrations are absolutely stunning bringing the story to life. I’m definitely going to be checking out Weir’s other graphic novel remixes. Bravo!

Huge thanks to TBR And Beyond, Ivy Noelle Weir and Little Brown Young Readers for my gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.
