Eight more days til Christmas!! To celebrate Christmas properly we need to focus on the real reason behind Christmas, which is the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. I’ve got two amazing books to share with you today!!
Jesus Is My Best Friend
By Sherelle Gaston, illustrated by HH-Pax
TJ is a bright fourth-grader who experiences a journey with his new best friend Jesus. Join him as he embarks on his daily activities as he and Jesus develop a life long friendship.
Wow, what an amazing way to teach children that Jesus is always with them. It also shows that you can talk to Jesus whenever you want – he is always listening! I also loved how it showed that each family member had their own Jesus to talk to. There’s a beautiful prayer in the back of the book that is guaranteed to touch your heart as it did mine. The illustrations are stunning!!
Sherelle Gaston is a devoted wife to Min. Tawann Gaston Sr. and a mom of two boys, TJ and Terelle. While working in family and children’s ministry, she could not find any books about the people and prophets of the Bible that represent the children of today. Sherelle began to create lessons for her sons and students. In 2019, she asked God if the lessons she was creating could become books so that she could help enhance the kingdom of God in children – our present generation!
Out birthed ‘The Greatest in the Kingdom’ series! Based on Matthew 18. At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”
Matthew 18:1-5 NIV
It’s Sherelle’s passion to help the children of today discover their true identity as heirs to the kingdom of God, and teach children that having a personal relationship with God is the most important relationship in life.
In Jesus’ Name
by Nicole Ivory, illustrated by Mike Motz
In John 14:14, Jesus shared the secret to effective prayer: ‘If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
From the second they wake up in the morning, children are full of words, questions, ideas and dreams. When they finish exploring this book, they will have the confidence to speak with God loudly–and often.
As a child growing up my parents always taught me that you end a prayer with – “In Jesus’ Name, Amen.” There’s power in his Almighty name, and this book is a great introduction on showing your child the basics of prayer. No matter where you are or what you want to pray for, God is always listening. This book let’s children know that they can pray about small things as well as large, good and bad, in church or at home – anywhere! I loved the rhyming throughout the book, and the bright illustrations were the icing on the cake.
Nicole Ivory is a Christian author who has been called to help children develop their faith and literacy
Her debut book In Jesus Name was written to inspire children to build a personal relationship with Jesus and recognize His presence throughout their day
Nicole lives in Ontario with her husband and three children and is currently hard at work on her second book.
Christmas is just right around the corner – a representation of the Greatest Gift Ever – God gave us his son, Jesus. Both of these books are amazing tools to help guide your children into talking, praying and just knowing Jesus is always there for them. I want my son to grow up knowing Jesus – and books are a great way to start.
Both of these books touched me because it’s how I live my life. I find myself saying small prayers throughout the day as it progresses. Sometimes I’m praying for something, and other times I’m simply praising God for all he has done.
Huge thanks to both Sherelle & Nicole for gifting our family these wonderful books. You can get your hands on both of them by clicking the covers below or above!
To all my readers, thank you for your continued support. This month has been the busiest month of the year for me – just knowing that people out there take the time to read my posts everyday is a great gift in itself. However, this holiday season let’s keep the real reason we celebrate Christmas in the front of our minds. Thank you, God, for the greatest gift of all time!!
Have a wonderful day my friends!!
