Everybody’s favorite Wombat is back, and he’s desperate to cool down! Winston wants to play outside, but it’s SO hot. Luckily, his mom comes up with a great idea: They can play in the sprinklers! Together they jump and laugh and play in the cool water under a hot summer sun, and then things get even better. There’s a rainbow! Right there in the mist. But where did it come from?
With the help of his mom, Winston learns why rainbows appear when there’s mist in the sun, and how it’s just like friendship and love-something miraculous that you can feel and enjoy, even when you can’t catch it in your hand….
In this adorable book, Winston is playing in the sprinkler on a hot day when he spots a rainbow. Winston wants to hold it, but isn’t able to. His mom explains that there are many things around us that are great, like friendship and love, even though we aren’t able to touch them, they are still there. What a wonderful book! Children see the world in such a different way than we do, and sometimes it’s confusing to them. This book helps children to understand that sometimes we can’t touch, or see things that are so beautiful, but that they are still there. The story, paired with the amazing illustrations create a fantastic picture book that all children will love! Winston is a character I definitely want to see more of. Winston wants to be able to wink next time he sees his Grandpa, because his Grandpa always winks at him. No matter what he does, both eyes shut when he tries. He doesn’t understand why he can’t do it NOW! His mom explains to him that just like how he had to learn to talk and walk, winking is the same, you just need practice. Oh, how frustrating it is for our children when they are trying to accomplish something and it isn’t going their way. As parents we have to teach them to never give up, just keep trying and they will get it. Another great story with Winston. Winston is so full of excitement about the field trip he’s going on the next day that he can’t stop wiggling! All during his bath he’s wiggling and jumping around. His mom tells him that he has to get all of his wiggles out so that he can get to sleep, and that’s what they do. I am sure that all of our children will have the “Winston Wiggles” come December 24th! I remember as a child I could never fall asleep the night before Christmas – maybe if I jumped around, danced and got all my wiggles out it would have been easier for me?!? This book will help set an example to any child that gets the wiggles right before bedtime!! Yet another amazing episode with one of my favorite characters. All 3 Books are 5 shiny stars for us!!

About Megan:
A lifelong lover of books, and a member of her local library board of trustees for over fifteen years, Megan Cline has been inspired to create this series of children’s stories by her own insatiably curious son, whose questions and wonderings about the world around him always prodded her to think about things that had never even occurred to her.
