As parents we would do anything to help our children succeed, right? I know I will. What I’m about to share with you is a preschool curriculum system that our family has really high hopes for.
My son just turned two on August first. He isn’t really talking yet. He says one or two words, but the rest is babbling. He has repetitive babbles though, as he really is trying to communicate with us. This is frustrating for not only him, but as parents as well – not being able to help your child is a horrific feeling.
They have approved little David for speech therapy, but with COVID still here it will be done in 30 minute Zoom sessions. I don’t think this is going to work for him at all. Staring at a screen with a stranger trying to talk to him. So, fortunately, we have found an alternative. I want to introduce you to the AILA Sit & Play. I’ve been fortunate enough to be working with this amazing team.

As you can see, AILA is a free standing system. There’s no need for anyone to hold it. Navigation of the buttons are the simplest I’ve ever seen. There’s a power button on the back. Above the power button there is a volume control. The speaker is extremely crisp & clear. If anyone’s has a hard time hearing the volume dues increase enough to compensate without distorting. There’s a button in the front underneath the screen. This button is used to pause the session or broadcast. From the paused screen you can either Return To Animal Island or access the settings. In the settings you can switch the WiFi access point.
We all know that I’m a huge fan of hands on learning and steer away from screentime. However, this system delivers preschool curriculum in little 15 minute sessions. During these sessions the AI learns how your child reacts to certain teachings. If your child isn’t responding to something AILA is teaching, the AI takes note and tries a different approach. For instance, say you have two toddlers, each who learn in different ways. They both have their own AILA, however, each system will have a custom learning experience for each child.
The characters on AILA are all amazing! There are six different characters – Mister Goose, Mister Frog, Pig, Monkey, Fox & Hedgehog. Mister Goose often gets mail from Panda, but that’s not a main character. They each have their own special meaning tools they apply during their time in screen. Check them out below. You can actually order a hedgehog 🦔 plush made specifically for AILA. I know personally when I read a book to my son that has a plush that goes with it, he forms a deeper connection with that book.
There are three different ways you can use AILA. There’s broadcast mode which has different learning activities that are continuous. This is great for when your child is sitting down for breakfast – learn while eating. There’s learning session modes – 15 minutes of learning. Then there’s lullaby mode which just plays lullabies for when it’s time to relax.
The AILA for parents app is available on android and iOS. From the app you can control which mode is on. Two of the coolest features to me are the “check in” and the “send media” options. With the check in button you can watch your child live as they are learning. You can send them a picture with the send media button, whatever you send will just pop up automatically, the next time Mister Goose checks the mail, for them to see! The app also allows you to rate each learning session and comment on it. You can access all your child’s prior lessons right from the app. Pretty awesome, right?

I honestly wish that we would have had AILA when he was a year old. Better late than never though! So for the next year we will be sharing how AILA is working in our family!
