Incredible Children’s Books

Workman Publishing

First off, I would like to thank Workman Publishing for sending me these five amazing books so that I could share my honest review with you!

Indestructibles

The first books I want to tell you about are the “Indestructibles”. These books should be every child’s first books to read (chew, bend, & slobber on), because they truly are indestructible. I first found these books about a year ago (my son was only one) and I was honestly blown away.

Amy Pixton

Created by mother of triplets, Amy Pixton, who found that board books often ended up in her children’s mouths. Indestructibles are chew proof, rip proof, non-toxic and 100% washable. Ekaterina Trukhan is the illustrator. She has illustrated many children’s books for international publishers. She lives in Russia.I can tell you they went through a vigorous quality control from my son and passed every test!

“Let’s Be Kind” introduces good manners such as saying please, thank you and I’m sorry. Adorable book through and through. “Let’s Go Outside” shows the magic of being outside, the trees, the sky and all the creatures enjoying it. Really gets your child wanting more interaction with nature.

Each book is six pages long, short enough to keep a toddler interested and long enough to teach them something valuable. Both books tell great stories that teach your toddlers about life in general. All this is done while remaining “Indestructible!”

Good Night Baboon! & ABC Dance!

The next set of books I want to tell you about are both created by sister duo, Eunice & Sabrina Moyle. Sabrina writes the story and Eunice illustrates it. This talented duo creates magic with their witty, whimsical stories in beautiful board books. Sabrina and Eunice are behind Hello! Lucky, an award-winning lifestyle brand for the young and young at heart. Hello! Lucky’s started out making greeting cards in 2003 and has flourished. Now they have expanded to designing bedding, ceramics, socks, stationary, custom photo albums and of course, best selling children’s books. All this is done from the great city of San Francisco.

“Good Night Baboon!” This rhyming story counts down from ten to one, with a baby baboon that’s way too excited to go to sleep. The baby baboon pops in on other animals doing their nightly bedtime routine, until the countdown reaches one. By the time he reaches “one” big hug he is finally wore out and ready for bed.

“ABC Dance! – An Animal Alphabet” A fun rhyming story that takes you from A-Z! All sorts of dancing animals, from Aardvarks Arrive with a Band of Baboons all the way to the Zebras all Zigzag and skip have in hand. The back pages of the book also gives your child a summary with each alphabet letter accompanied with it’s corresponding animal.

Both of these books are extremely silly and great fun for the whole family. Quick reads that my son thoroughly enjoyed right before bedtime. A fun way to teach children the alphabet and how to count to ten. These books just emphasize the fact that you don’t have to have a million words to teach or tell a story. My son has thoroughly enjoyed them both! They are short enough to read to your child daily. Repetition is a key to great learning. Brilliant books with gorgeous pictures.

Your Nose! – A Wild Little Love Song

Last, but most certainly not least, we have an author that every parent has heard of. Sandra Boynton has written and illustrated over 60 children’s books, and selling over 70 million copies! In 2008 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Cartoonists Society. Besides writing children’s books, she has also written and produced six albums of unconventional children’s music, and written and directed eleven short musical films. Sandra has four children of her own and a couple perfect grandchildren. Parents and children alike will be enjoying her magical tales throughout time.

“Your Nose! – A Wild Little Love Song” A fox mother sings to her child about how much she adores their little nose. Showing other animals finding happiness by touching noses together. The mother comments on her child’s other great attributes, but always comes back to her love of their little nose.

When I was a child I remember my mom giving me “Eskimo kisses” where she would put her nose to mine and rub it back and forth. As soon as I started reading this book I was flooded with childhood memories, a beautiful moment. As a mother myself I’ve told my child his nose is as cute as a button. Sandra does a great job at evoking emotion from any age of reader.
